We're working with farmers to help prevent nitrogen reaching the aquifer.
Although we remove a variety of substances from our water before it reaches customers' taps, it's better for everyone if we can improve the quality of the water at source.
That's why we're helping farmers to sow special plants, known as cover crops, to use up leftover nitrogen after the main crop has been harvested and prevent it reaching the groundwater.
This project forms part of our catchment management work and will lead to long-term improvements to water quality.
Hampshire Farm Manager, Ian Margetts, discusses his experience of working with South East Water to grow cover crops on his arable farm.
